Our parish communities continued to welcome new members through the Sacrament of Baptism in 2020 – although we are presently restricted from holding Baptism ceremonies. The Lau family moved to the neighborhood recently and SHWP Parish welcomed Harry Lau, presented for Baptism by his parents Annaliese & Anthony, on 21 June at Our Holy Redeemer Church. As Harry begins his journey with Christ, may the water of Baptism be a rich sign of the life and love of God.
‘Despite the Covid restrictions, Harry’s Baptism felt warm and intimate and we attribute that to you and Deacon Jude’s personable service’ mother Anneliese wrote to Sacramental Coordinator, Nanette.
Deacon Jude Johnson, has been practising his Diaconate Ministry, at Camberwell, Balwyn and Deepdene Parish, while studying online. Originally from Myanmar, he is currently based at the Our Lady of Victories Presbytery in Camberwell with Fathers Brendan and Trac, as the Corpus Christi Seminary is closed due to isolation restrictions. Recently appointed as Sacramental Coordinator at CBD Parish, Deacon Jude joins SHWP Parish Sacramental Coordinator, Nanette Giovannini, to guide and prepare parents presenting their children for the sacrament of Baptism.
Jude completed six years of priestly training at the Seminary and is preparing for his ordination to the priesthood later this year. Please keep Jude in your prayers as he continues his journey.
