Christmas is only three weeks away and this should be a time of sharing and celebration, but for many it is a time of hunger, stress, and hardship. Although there are no Giving Trees in our parish churches, the 2020 St Vincent de Paul Christmas Appeal has not been forgotten in the lead up to Christmas.
Students at both of the primary schools within Surrey Hills Wattle Park Parish are enthusiastically supporting the
2020 Vinnies Christmas Appeal. Students at Our Holy Redeemer School have reflected on things that are most important. By looking back on this year and being reminded of
the many things to celebrate, be thankful for, and of the ways they can help those in the community. School families have been donating gifts for school-aged children whose families are not able to provide them with a Christmas gift.
At Our Lady’s Primary School, students have also been bringing non-perishable food items to assist families to have a lovely Christmas meal. These have been placed around their classroom prayer tables with students reflecting upon the wellbeing of the community, with the desire to enable all people in our community ‘to celebrate’. Their donations will help many vulnerable people in our community to enjoy this special time of year. On Monday, 7 December a liturgy will be held and Surrey Hills Wattle Park Conference President Brian Moore will attend and speak to the children about how their donations will assist those in need. The children will then help Brian take their donations to the church. We look forward to continuing to support Vinnies again.
Your gift could change lives. Through your support, many individuals and families will be able to have the Christmas they deserve, a Christmas of hope and joy.
