With the new look Parish Newsletter we have developed a new logo. Thanks in particular to Liz Molan for the concept design, to Jonathon Norman and tothe parish team for their development work for the final design.
The new design incorporates three circles. Perhaps two of these represent our communities of Surrey Hills and Wattle Park. Does the bigger circle represent the wider Church and world to which our communities belong? The circles are also suggestive of the images of
Our Holy Redeemer and
Our Lady of Perpetual Succour that sit each side of our parish letterhead. Circles are also symbols of inclusiveness and equality. There is no hierarchy in a circle, representing the fact that all our parishioners, young and old, new and well known should all find a place to sit around the table of the Eucharist in our parish.
Circles also have no beginning and no end representing that we are a parish centred around Christ, the
alpha (beginning) and
omega (end). The circles are overlaid with a vertical and a horizontal line. In these we can make out the cross which is the central symbolic representation of Christianity.
Our parish logo is rich in symbolism. What do you see in it? What story can you tell about this logo. Feel free to let us know what this logo means to you.
