Welcome
Welcome to the Parishes of
Our Holy Redeemer, 311 Mont Albert Road, Surrey Hills
and
Our Lady of Perpetual Succour, 301 Elgar Road, Wattle Park
Our community aspires to be a faith community guided by the Spirit, following Jesus through our daily lives. We constantly strive to develop adult faith in the community, to enhance our participation in the celebration of our Sunday Eucharist, to reach out to others in need, and to build a strong, happy, supportive and prayerful community. We hope you will feel at home and become involved in our celebrations and activities.
Dear Friends,
As most of you would be aware by now, the Prime Minister has announced that all non-essential indoor gatherings will be limited to 100 people. In light of this the Bishops of Victoria have written and advised that public liturgies and celebrations of the Mass are suspended immediately and until further notice. I here quote from the Bishops letter:
“We are very aware that this restriction will be particularly difficult for families who are planning liturgies such as funerals, weddings and baptisms. At this time, so long as appropriate precautions are able to be put in place (such as distancing between participants), it may be possible for these liturgies to proceed with a carefully limited congregation. In light of all this, all Catholics in Victoria are dispensed from their Sunday obligation until further notice (canon 1248).”
I appreciate that this will cause some angst and disappointment for many but the need to err on the side of caution is very much warranted as we grapple with the challenges that COVID-19 presents.

For the time that these restrictions are in place we will email a weekly prayer/scripture/reflection sheet to all in our parish and include any parish news that we are aware of. I think it is important at this time that we stay in touch as a parish community and even though we won’t be united in Eucharist we still can be in prayer for one another. Feel free to email the office any parish news of which you are aware and want to share. The Office will remain open as usual as we go forward.
Take care of yourselves and those around you and stay well.
Peace and blessings,
(Rev) Mark Reynolds PP
